Open a dual-boiler espresso machine. Pull a shot or steam milk, and follow the water, pressure and heat through the system.
Start a shot or a steam cycle. Follow the changing readings, then use the shot timeline to inspect a moment.
Drag to inspect the shot. The time and readings follow the same model.
Ready: the brew boiler holds 93 °C and the steam boiler 1.5 bar. Pull a shot to follow the water, or open the machine to lay its parts out.
Inspect the portafilter with the pump stopped and the group vented.
Hover over or tap any part of the machine, or pick one below, to see what it does. The tags show each part’s temperature and pressure as the machine runs.
After La Marzocco’s Linea Micra, from its published specifications: a 230 ml brew boiler, a 1.6 L steam boiler, a 1.5 L reservoir under the body and a rotary pump. The preheat loop round the steam boiler, the mixing manifold and the steam pressure come from owners’ accounts on Home-Barista. The internal layout is simplified, and the temperatures and pressures are a model, not measurements. The shot plays at twice real speed; the readout keeps real seconds.
